Summary

It is a federation of labor unions within the Aeon Group companies and was created in October 1980. Currently, 48 unions are affiliated.
We are collectively affiliated with UA ZENSEN, the upper organization, as the FEDERATION OF AEON GROUP WORKERS' UNIONS.

Mission statement

• We shall strive to maintain and improve the working conditions of workers, promote their common welfare, and improve their economic and social status through sound voluntary organization and solidarity.
• We shall be aware that we have important rights and duties concerning the development of society and the enhancement of life and culture, and we shall strive to improve our skills, cultivate our character, and enlighten our knowledge in order to promote the democratization of industry and the realization of a welfare society.
• We shall reject totalitarianism and the supremacy of struggle, strive to establish union democracy, and contribute to the solidarity and sound development of all workers.

Ideal

We will enhance our consensus through the participation of a diverse range of people working for the Aeon Group, and demonstrate our strength as an organization that represents the people who work for the Group. We will balance the diversity of our colleagues and the commonality of working in the Aeon Group, while forming a consensus, linking it to the labor movement, and working together to do what cannot be done by a single union.

• We aim to realize a “zest for life,” based on the principle that we spend a great deal of our lives as professionals, and on that basis, to enhance “job satisfaction. We share the understanding that this is based on the “sound growth and development of the Aeon Group,” and we will practice our movements with “pride” and “responsibility” toward the realization of each of these goals.
• We share a long-term vision and strive to realize the common welfare of the Group in a planned, stable, and warm manner.

• FEDERATION OF AEON GROUP WORKERS’ UNIONS is a movement that operates democratically, with fair and impartial participation by all affiliated unions.
• FEDERATION OF AEON GROUP WORKERS’ UNIONS is an organization in which member unions maintain parallel and equal relationships and realize goals through synergies that cannot be achieved by a single union.
• FEDERATION OF AEON GROUP WORKERS’ UNIONS is a federation of people who support each other by valuing the bonds of people-to-people relationships and building a climate of mutual learning and trust.

Global framework agreement

FEDERATION OF AEON GROUP WORKERS’ UNIONS signed the global framework agreement, together with AEON CO. LTD, UNI Global Union, and UA ZENSEN, on 10 November 2014.
The global framework agreement is an agreement that should be concluded between a company that has developed its business overseas and an international industrial union. It is a common commitment for a company and a trade union to recognise each other as partners and to promote social commitments together.

1. Purpose of the agreement
The purpose of the agreement is for the four signatories to recognize each other as partners to share the basic understanding on the universally recognized principles on environment, labor and human rights and to promote jointly its implementation.

2.Contents
The contents are the basic philosophy in respect of labor, human rights and environment based on AEON Basic Principles.

【Labor & Human rights】
It complies with the eight ILO Core Conventions (Freedom of association, right to collective bargaining, elimination of discrimination, child labor and forced labor and the UN Global Compact’s ten principles which AEON participates.

【Environment】
These contents are based on AEON Sustainability Principle.

Overseas Initiatives

【Supporting the growth and development of labor unions in each country based on smart partnerships】

• We support the establishment of labor unions that can build sound cooperative labor-management relations based on the proactive participation of employees in management.
• We support the establishment of labor unions that can build sound cooperative labor-management relations based on the proactive participation of employees in management.
• We will position labor unions organized in Aeon Group companies as global network unions, and support activities to strengthen their organizations and make them self-supporting.
• We will create new opportunities for unions formed overseas and unions in Japan to learn from each other.
